2010-11 FEES

The reason for charging this year is simple: there needs to be at least some income to offset the large expense/loss.

SKI RATE INFO
I would like everyone to be able to ski regardless of income. Cross country skiing has become increasingly more expensive in recent years, especially for quality racing equipment. If the $10 daily or $100 season pass is more than you can budget contact me at 920-743-0272 and we can settle upon a fee that you can afford.

Kids ski free. I want to encourage youth skiing as much as possible. I hope that adults will bring children along, thus no charge. There is NO REASON not to drag your kids away from their technological endeavours!!  ..except possibly -10 and 20mph wind.

There is a ski swap at Sevastopol School late Nov/early Dec. Good deals can be had on all xc gear, as well as downhill and snowboard equipment and apparel. There is also an economical ski waxing done by Door County Silent Sports Alliance. Contact Cassie Cibik Moeller at 493-0405 for details.

Running a ski resort I have begun to find is incredibly expensive. When Snowkraft Nordic was more or less private from 2003-2006, I had a good core set of relatively level trails of around 3 miles, and good, but not excellent, equipment. This had some cost, but was not prohibitive. In Fall 2006, when Cherry Hills Golf was added, more people came and I began to think of Snowkraft as a service to the public. I still look at it that way, for sure. I have and am leveling all trails to be skiable in the lowest snowfall amounts so that skiing is possible for a larger percentage of the year. I have added 28 acres in the orchard property that was purchased last year. Snowkraft IS NOT an ABR or Peninsula Park as far as trail length. Snowkraft will be around 6.5 miles after trail addition this fall. Snowkraft's distinction is low snow skiing, which has added good skiing for a longer period as was seen last year, along with an incredible financial burden to do this.

This year a new snowmobile will be added, the current snowmobile will be fixed, ($2500) a new, wider and redesigned Ginzugroomer will be added as well as, I hope, new wider tracks for mt ATV. This cost is substantial.

Of more expense this year is trail construction equipment. Diesel fuel and gas for equipment alone will be around $5000. Equipment purchases and related about $30,000.

The total operating cost this year is well over $50,000.

Trail construction will hopefully be finished this fall, and expenses will lower substantially in the future, when I again hope to utilize a donation system.
